Balance Yoga Stands in Support of the Black Community

Black Lives MAtter

As the owner of Balance Yoga & Wellness, I condemn racism, rejecting police brutality, and calling for justice for George Floyd and every other victim of white supremacy. We also express our outrage and sadness at the deaths of Breonna Taylor in Kentucky, Ahmaud Arbery in Georgia, or Alton Sterling and Keevan Robinson here in Louisiana.

We support and stand in solidarity with our students, teacher and staff  in the black community.

As a future physician, I hope to be able to help with the public health crisis black men and women face at the hands of our justice system. We are committed to continue to work to address the problem of systemic racism in our society. When the smoke clears from the protests, we will continue to remember and work.

We all need to commit to taking sustained action. When I counsel clients about dietary changes, I veer away from quick fixes. Long term changes have greater impact on your health and well being. We need bigger systemic changes to address the problems of racism in our society. We have lots of work to do.

Today is Give NOLA Day.. We are offering yoga swag in exchange for your donations to local causes that work for change. Here’s a list of organizations Women with a Vision, Citizen SHE, Orleans Parish Prison Reform, LA Center for Chidlrens Rights….This is NOT an exhaustive list.
