Ashtanga yoga for all, Beginners Ashtanga
CERTIFICATIONS
I've been part of the Balance community since 2014 and have maintained a consistent Ashtanga practice since 2017, studying primarily under the guidance of Meredith Murphy, as well as Lauren Collignon, Stacey Zimet, and Andy Redmon. I learned to lead the Primary Series through one-on-one training sessions with Meredith.
MY INSPIRATION
I'm continually inspired by the dedication of the community around this practice and how the Ashtanga method offers both structure and room for evolution—providing a steady path while meeting you exactly where you are.
WHY I PRACTICE
I turn to yoga as an accessible way to stay grounded and support my overall wellbeing. The rhythm and focus of this practice provide a moving meditation that quiets my mind. Having never had an athletic background, the supportive environment at Balance helped me feel comfortable in movement for the first time, and Mysore-style practice gave me the space to learn at my own pace and build confidence.
WHY I TEACH
I began teaching to help sustain and grow our Ashtanga community at Balance. My goal is to make the practice accessible to new students while encouraging long-term growth. I aim to create a space that's rooted in tradition with a flexible approach that avoids unnecessary rigidity, while remaining supportive, approachable, and encouraging, with room for curiosity and personal discovery.
