Rolf Movement Series with Lorraine 

4 Weeks: February 2, 9, 16, 23

During a Rolf Movement class we’re working towards gaining awareness of the subtle actions that are occurring in the body, such as bracing or “tightness”, and to discover easier more efficient ways of moving, standing, and sitting. We’re also working on discovering the potential for movement that we each have but which is often inaccessible due to habitual ways of moving.

Classes consist of slow gentle movement patterns guided with verbal and hands-on cues. Examples include: the tilt of our pelvis, the rotation of our shoulders, and the flexion and extension of our spine. Students are asked to wear comfortable clothing and to bring a yoga mat if they have one.


This series is sold as a package of 4 classes. Each class is $25 for a total of $100 for the entire series. Each week we will focus on a different area of the body as follows:


February 2nd: Hips & Legs

Explore the subtle and not-so-subtle actions that occur when we walk, and work to discover a gait unique to us that is both supportive and effortless.

February 9th: Shoulders & Arms

Work to counter some of the common effects from our computer-phone-driving culture by exploring shoulder mobility and shoulder placement.

February 16th: Head & Neck

Learn techniques for relieving anxiety and stress, as well as loosening tension in the head and neck.

February 23rd: Spine & Core

Learn the core and it’s many definitions as we work to find buoyancy, lift, and length throughout our body.
