Introduction to Yoga Series Starting January 2017

Are you new to yoga? Ready to rekindle your practice?

In an intro series, your teacher starts with the basics. Each week will build upon the previous one. You benefit from learning this way because you

  • Start with a group – you’re in a group with other new students, you grow together and develop a sense of community.
  • Learn progressively – this way you never get overwhelmed or feel lost. Your teacher builds the series up progressively and will remind you what you learned the previous week.
  • Learn safely – you start with classes that are meant for beginners, we never ask you to do crazy or advanced postures. This way you’ll never feel out of your league.

You have two choices starting in January (scroll down for the details of each):

  • Introduction to Ashtanga Yoga Series with Stephen Link – Mondays 6-7:15pm
  • Introduction to Yoga: Mind, Body, Breath with Sean Ambrose – Wednesdays 6-7:15pm

Sometimes life gets in the way and you miss a week. You will be able to catch up when you return, because the teacher will repeat the last week’s lesson.

Introduction to Ashtanga Yoga Series

Learn the fundamentals of the Ashtanga yoga practice in a slow, safe and comprehensive manner.

In this seven week series you learn Sun Salutations, the fundamental standing postures, accessible seated postures, breathing techniques, and philosophy of the Ashtanga yoga system. Your teacher will introduce the Mysore approach to learning. We keep class size small so you get lots of attention.

Who this series is for

Students seeking a physically challenging yoga practice or curious about Ashtanga yoga. If you like using your body’s strength and breaking a sweat, this series will improve your strength and flexibility.

About your teacher

stephen-linkStephen Link has been studying and practicing Yoga for the last 8 years. Stephen teaches what he calls “Unorthodox Ashtanga,” which utilizes the sequences of Ashtanga Yoga as templates which can and should be modified in order to meet the needs of each body.  Stephen holds a Bachelors Degree in Religious Studies, an emphasis in Indian Philosophy, and the completion of a 1000 hour Yoga Teacher Training through Naropa University in Boulder, CO.

Introduction to Yoga: Mind, Body, Breath

Improve your life with yoga by reducing stress, calming your mind and improving fitness and flexibility. In this series, you dig into the roots of yoga and learn simple practices that you can take home.

Explore the fundamental elements of yoga—breathing, postures and meditation with a group of like-minded students. This is a practical course– what you learn helps you to improve your life off the mat.

Who this series is for

Students in search of stress management coupled with increases in flexibility and strength. If you’re interested in learning about how yoga can improve your life through breathing, meditation and postures, this series will give you specific practices you can use in your life.

Sean Ambrose

I am in love with people and understanding their beauty, passion and divinity through yoga. I believe that we all share immense beauty and strive to reflect this in my own yoga practice and teaching. From asana, mediatation and pranayama to coffee, smiles and skateboarding we can use yoga to develop our capacity for empathy, compassion, integrity and respect. There will be a 20% administration fee on refunds for cancellations made 48 hours in advance.
