**Postponed due to COVID-19** email info@balanceyogawellness.com for new dates
Are you a yoga teacher who's wondering where to go next? How to sharpen your teaching skills? Are you a practitioner who wants to go deeper?
This intensive is for yoga teachers and practitioners who are thirsty for more knowledge, beyond the basis of your 200-hour training.
Ashtanga Yoga is one of the most popular styles of yoga across the world. Ashtanga was created by Tirumalai Krishnamacharya in Mysore India, who passed his knowledge to Pattabhi Jois. The Ashtanga Yoga system is modeled on the perfect balance of strength and flexibility and can be tailored to meet any capability or body type.
Learning to practice and teach Ashtanga Yoga will take your yoga practice to the next level. At the end of this intensive, you'll be comfortable guiding students through the Ashtanga Primary Series. You'll have an established practice of the Primary Series, including advanced postures like kurmasana, drop backs, and headstands.
You will have the chance to learn from two of New Orleans' top Ashtanga teachers.
About Your Teachers and Guides
Both Meredith and Lauren have studied Ashtanga Yoga in India. Meredith and Lauren have both been practicing Ashtanga for 15 years. They have over a decade of teaching experience and love to share the knowledge they have developed through their personal practices and teaching.
Meredith is a direct student of R. Sharath Jois, the grandson of Pattabhi Jois. She's also studied with the top teachers in the world, including Manju Jois, David Swenson, Richard Freeman, and Tim Miller.
Lauren has studied with R. Sharath Jois, Manju Jois, David & Shelly Swenson, Tim Miller, Eddie Stern and Sharmila Desai.
Balance Yoga's Approach to Ashtanga
We endeavor to teach Ashtanga in a safe and welcoming environment where practitioners of all levels are comfortable practicing. We do not abide by yoga dogma, and we encourage healthy skepticism. Our teachers are open to your questions and dialogue. We are here to help students build sustainable practices that evolve as we all do. Students are encouraged to develop their own intuition and listen to their bodies.
